Found this in our B&B before we knew the legend of Romulus and Remus.

The Spanish Quarter (Quartieri Spagnoli)
Naples Underground (Napoli Sotterranea)
Underneath much of Naples lies an underground city, full of catacombs, caves, and ancient Roman roads and markets. During WWII, these areas were hollowed out. The rubbage from decades of existence were paved over, and it was used by many families as a bomb shelter.
Sam and I explored with only a lit candle. Some caves were so narrow that even my miniscule day pack could hardly fit as I squeezed through. When you walk Naples, there’s a good chance that things like this are right beneath your feet.
